Today, Desiree from Bags of Hope picked up the food that we collected during our Food Drive. Our Food Drive started off with youth learning about food insecurity, particularly as it impacts kids. They also decorated paper grocery bags with words and images that highlight the severity of the problem.
Bags of Hope distributes food in multiple ways:
- During the school year, food is sent home in students’ backpacks on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- During the summer, families sign up for the program, and Bags of Hope volunteers deliver big boxes of food to them.
- For Thanksgiving, traditional Thanksgiving food, including a turkey, is delivered to families.
- For Christmas, breakfast food is delivered to families
Our goal was to fill 50 brown paper bags. Thanks to support from the community, we received enough food to fill more than 50 bags!
